Ponca City public safety facility
In 2017, the City of Ponca City engaged the team of ADG Blatt and Redstone Architects to develop a spatial and feasibility study, and prepare preliminary design for a new Public Safety Facility. The current Public Safety Building, built in 1975, includes a Municipal Court, Police Department, Municipal Jail, and the City’s Emergency Management facilities.
The initial space needs assessment called for a new facility, incorporating a new police department of approximately 36,000 square feet, a municipal court of 8,000 square feet, and a new jail of approximately 10,700 square feet. In total, the study identified new construction of about 55,000 square feet. These findings were discussed in early August 2017, and block site and building diagrams were presented for discussion. Part of the discussion included the possibility of keeping the court in the current building.
