A NEW SPACE FOR NEWVIEW

ADG Blatt consulted with nationally renowned architect, Chris Downey, to design NewView’s latest clinic in Oklahoma City: a refurbished 1970s building that sits on Classen Boulevard. The organization offers assessments, routine care, vision solutions and devices to people with impaired vision that cannot be corrected with traditional methods, allowing them to remain independent. The new facility will allow NewView to increase their capacity of service by fifty percent.

The facility is designed with emphasis placed on finishes that aid clients. Hallway lights will be fixed and directional so that clients can get a sense of north and south. Hard-surface flooring will allow them to hear when people with canes or hard-soled shoes are approaching. Metal strips will separate the hard floors from carpeted areas to signal space transition.

The facility includes a pediatric area, rehabilitation space and a daily living skills center that includes a teaching kitchen. A retail store will offer low vision equipment and technology, and spaces for therapists to teach patients how to use the equipment.
